Hello there!
By Claire Elizabeth TerryTHANKS FOR STOPPING BY THE I DRAW ROSES BLOG!
It’s an unusual name for a blog, I’ll admit, but it’s actually based on the upcoming movie (watch this space!) and novel of I Draw Roses (all the info to your right, below – ooh, on the next page, and just about everywhere! Cue an annoying Facebook WINK.)
It’s about six friends, from all over the world, whose lives are transformed when a rose is secretly drawn for each of the women, but the idea first came to me eleven years ago (cough, splutter — did it REALLY take me that long to write a film script and then a novel? Well… yes! Partly because I used to think that things just sort of, wrote themselves, and so spent an inordinate amount of time telling all my friends about what I was going to do, jotting down ideas when the ‘muse’ visited - and she didn’t come knockin’ on my door that often - and basically, well, doing nothing. (Which I was very good at.)
Until the day when I thought, "Do I really want to be sitting on a park bench with a friend when I’m 85 (it used to be 75, I’ve upped the limit as I’ve got older), regretting all the things which I haven’t done?
And would I regret not having written I Draw Roses?"
The answer, of course, was "yes".
And that’s when I realised that I’d better buckle down and write the damn thing myself, because nobody else was going to do it for me…

It is an amazing idea, which transformed into a script and then into a book. (or vice versa?) Anyway, looking forward to read this wonderful book of dear Claire.
Thank you, Jan! Hope you enjoy it!
You always make me smile Claire, and yes, encourage me to get on with it too…! I am SO glad that we will not be having that conversation on a park bench somewhere, any time soon!!!!
Likewise, Jane!! 🙂
